i just got her VEIL dvd, it's pretty good! The only problem is that my apartment is much too small to practice!!
Anyone have any favorites from the DVD? I like "Juggling the veil" the Roman Cape variations and the Angel wings.

Re: Aziza veil dvd
Wed, August 30, 2006 - 4:49 PMI can't remember what the move is called, but my favorite was the face framing move where one arm was brought up behind and the other is brought in front, just below the face or half covering the face. I also liked the fourishes when moving the veil from back to front.
I'm in the same boat about not having much room to practice. I've knocked a couple of things down already.

Thu, August 31, 2006 - 10:21 AMAshley, where did you get it from? The only place I could find it when I last looked was IAMED and it was stupidly expensive. Did you find a better source? -

Re: Aziza veil dvd
Sat, October 28, 2006 - 8:45 AMI like *trying* to juggle the veil - I look like a chicken flapping its oversized wings. Some day, I'll get it. I found every move and every bit of advice in the DVD useful, and love watching her performance at the end. Oh, to move so seamlessly with the veil. -

Re: Aziza veil dvd
Sat, October 28, 2006 - 8:52 AMMy favourites were juggling the veil, the helicopter and the "pose" moments with the veil.
I particularly like Aziza's counsel to let the music dictate what you do. Too many people look like they are combining a bunch of veil tricks one after the other. Aziza (and other good veil dancers) looks like she is dancing and the veil is just accenting parts of the dance. Beautiful. -

Re: Aziza veil dvd
Sat, October 28, 2006 - 12:32 PMI Love the Veil video....it has helped me so much! Now I feel like I can 'do' something with my veil while dancing...I always get a big reaction from the helicopter ....like, 'Oooohhh'...how'd she do that? ;-)
I love that video so much I wish there were 2~ because I know Aziza's got more in marvelous bag of tricks! Did you watch the performance at the end! Amazing... -

Re: Aziza veil dvd
Wed, November 1, 2006 - 10:38 AMMy veil dancing has gone from being "a dancer with a bag of veil tricks" to smooth combinations, due to this dvd, I'm sure!
I've always loved Aziza's veil technique and now I get to emulate it!!! woohooo!

Re: Aziza veil dvd
Wed, November 1, 2006 - 12:31 PMMust back you up on this one. I had abandoned veil for years because I couldn't stand watching anyone do veil, which made me not want to try it. It was like waiting for oooh moments with some background music playing, or at its worst, a dancer being attacked by killer bees flapping about and yelling "get them off." But Aziza has cured me of my bias, and I'll try to make friends with the veil again.
Aziza did a gorgeous "extreme veil" piece at our Bewitching Bellydance Ball on Saturday, and it was mesmerizing. I felt like I was watching a great dance at the same time as an excellent animation that made the music visible. Breathtaking.
