It took me a week to post this but I survived two days of workshops. Aziza was fantastic. I loved her visualizations, like the fact that we should own the stage and mark our territory like an animal does so we should figuratively pee on the stage. She had some great techniques in the drill workshops that really made you focus on range of motion. I also think I need to go out and have a shirt made that says "I survuved the 20 minute shimmy." The second day my favorite was the traveling section of the workshop. I'm still a beginner and really don't do much traveling yet so it was a real challenge for me. About an hour into the workshop the balls of my feet started hollering at me pretty loudly because I never spend that much time on them. It was a great weekend. Sonya's bringing her back in 2008 and I can't wait.

Re: Aziza workshop in Chicago
Fri, March 30, 2007 - 5:18 AMMe too! It was totally fantastic and refreshing. I'm going to be the first in line to sign up for the 2008! Egads, I still remember the drum solo choreo (for me thats an utter miracle and a half), but then again, I practiced it like a madwoman. I still cant do the the spinny butt thing, tho (I *know* there is a better term for that). Aziza tried to show me but I was too embarassed to do it without mirrors :)
